To all AAC members
The 2010 election is just around the corner. I am sure we all want to make informed choices.
I am allowing my name to stand for Recording /Secretary as I believe the position offers the opportunity to provide communication between the Board of Directors and the members of the AAC
To help facilitate open communication I would recommend to the Board that a members only section on the AAC web site be put in place immediately. This would include the newsletter, by-laws, financial reports, standing committees reports, agenda & minutes of the approved minutes of the Board of Directors meetings, as well as a list of current members.
As an AAC member how would you prefer to have the information sent to you? Via a members only section on the AAC web site, email, or regular post? please state if you have access to a computer.
thank you
Jane

I would like a members only section on the AAC website for documents such as by-laws and financial reports. Monthly communications sent out via e-mail especially agenda and minutes
ReplyDelete"Agendas" a great idea, thanks Wendy. This will give the members the opportunity to know what the directors are discussing as well as knowing if their suggestions are on the agenda.

Hi Jane, a member only section would be great especially for the Quebec folks... we always find out after everybody else what is happening as there is no official way of communicating to the members other than the BARK list.
ReplyDeleteI personally prefer emails and a member's only section on the AAC website. BUT.. what about people who do not have access to a computer with the internet. I know you can go to the library, but if you don't know how to use a computer... what good is that... and there are people who fall into this category.

Hi Anne:
ReplyDeleteI think that this is a problem for all provinces. Quebec is unique as there is the need to translate.
It is unfortunate that no one from Quebec allowed thier name to stand for the 2010 election.Provincial reps could have their own email list or yahoo group.

Hi Nancy:
ReplyDeleteThe web site with a section for members only will work for the majority of members. For those who do not have computers they would receive their notices by mail.
Jane
Hi Jane, we do have a Yahoo group list in Quebec... Yes it needs to be translated but the biggest issue is that information were posted on the Bark List before our Qc rep was advised... Also, the Bark List is not an "official" members list... it's a public forum anyone has access to...

Hi Anne:
ReplyDeleteNot sure how this happened. If I am elelcted we will establish a members only site on the web and your rep, will have the information prior to putting it on the web. Also yor rep might want to establish an email list or yahoo group for your province. No one is running for the AAC rep from your province. The Board will appoint one.
